Beginners Courses

This course is aimed at those who are new to the sport, have been

away for a while or just want to brush up on the basics. It is the first

step to becoming a competent climber, capable of tackling many

 routes indoors and outdoors, and opening up a whole new dimension

 in the outdoors. No previous experience is necessary, and all

equipment is includedin the cost of the course.

 

 The course will cover:

  • Correct fitting of a harness.

  • Tying into the harness using a figure of eight knot.

  • Climbing etiquette and general climbing wall procedures.

  • Correct use of a belay device for climbing and lowering.

  • Climbing calls, communication with your partner.

  • Basic movement technique.

  • Equipment selection.

Course cost = £150.00

Improvers / Leading Courses

This course is aimed at those who have completed a beginners course, or are

competent with top roping techniques. It will give you the necessary skills to

attempt most routes on indoor walls, as well as making the leap into some of the

skills you will need to climb competently outdoors on sport or traditional climbs.

All equipment is included in the cost of the course.

 

The course will cover:

  • Revision of basic course, including fitting harness, tying in and belaying.

  • Advanced rope work and belaying for leading, including knots and anchors.

  • Lead climbing indoors and on sport routes, clipping safely and efficiently.

  • Climbing Calls used for leading, communication with your partner.

  • Training for climbing.

  • Advanced movement technique.

  • Correct selection for of ropes and other lead climbing equipment.

  • Demonstration of lead falls and theory of fall factors etc.

Course cost = £180.00

Touching Rock - Outdoor Climbing Course

This course is aimed at those who want to make the leap from
climbing indoors, to the great outdoors. It will give you an opportunity to
touch real rock, transferring some of the skills you use indoors to the
outside environment. No previous experience is necessary although it
would be advantageous to have completed one of our indoor courses
All equipment is included in the cost of the course.

 

 The course will cover:

  • Revision of basics inc fitting of a harness, tying in and belaying.

  • Bottom roping, climbing a variety of routes and grades.

  • Top roping (belaying from the top rather that the bottom).

  • Movement on natural rock .

  • Bouldering on natural rock .

  • Seconding a leader removing protection on a pitch.

  • Evening theory and gear placement sessions

  • Climbing tales around the gas stove.

Course cost = £160.00
£140.00 if booked following participation on one of our indoor courses.

Kids (or big kids) climbing parties

A superb idea for a birthday party for kids of all ages...
from 8 through to 70.

Run at Warwick School on Myton Road. We generally run parties

for up to 10 or up to 20 kids which would normally last 2 hours.

This gives the right time for the kids to get some climbing done,

but not too much so that they get bored. A rough outline of what we

would do is shown below, but we always tailor the party to suit the group.

All equipment is provided in the cost of the course.

 The party will generally cover:

  • Introduction and warm up.

  • Kitting out in a harness and helmet.

  • Climbing approx 3 routes each and learning to belay for the rest of the group.

  • A short break after an hour for a drink followed by more climbing.

  • Climbing games and bouldering for the last 20mins.

  • Possibility of adding a giant rope swing for some time at the end. (subject to prior booking)

Course cost = £140.00 (based on 10 kids for 2 hours)
